Sugarcane Poli

Sugarcane Poli is a great alternative to normal polis. The sugarcane gives 'em a sweet-ish taste and a very smooth finish. They don't taste super sweet and can thus be served with savoury bhaajis as well.

Recipe for Sugarcane Poli:

Makes 3 Polis

Ingredients:

Sugarcane Juice60 ml
Whole Wheat Flour50 gms
Oil1/2 tsp

How to make Sugarcane Poli:

1.Mix the sugarcane juice along with the oil.
2.Add the wheat flour and knead well to form a soft dough. Let it rest for 10-15 minutes
3.Now divide the dough into three equal parts and dust the surface with some more wheat flour.
4. Roll out the polis and cook them on a griddle pan on low-medium heat.
5. Once the polis have cooled slightly, store them in a container.

*With a high sugar content, the polis caramelise quickly. A watchful pair of eyes will prevent the poli from getting dark spots.

Sugarcane polis need to be consumed preferably immediately, or on the same day. They taste great with pickles like Turmeric Loncha or even bhaajis.

Each poli will give ~75 calories.
